so...roasting chesnuts on an open fire...

Is there any other Christmas tradition more underused than this!! For "The 3" (event for Junior High Students) next week we want to roast chestnuts on an open fire. Having no idea how this is done I naturally looked to the fount of all knowledge - google. It looks pretty easy, cutting a cross on each seems important to "avoid exploding chestnuts". I wonder how we'll get on?

PHIL! Ange and I tried to do this last year. It was really hard and they ended up tasting HORRIBLE! So, we did what any St. Hilaire family member might do and made a game out of it with her brother Luke. If you'd like, Ange and I can teach you how to play "Ladlenutt" (trademark and patent forthcoming) and perhaps you can teach the junior highers at the 3 this new amazing Christmas sensation of a game.

See Ange's blog for further information.

The best part about roasting chestnuts over an open fire is singing the song while you are doing it, and constantly referring to the nut "meat" as you open and eat it.

nut meat. just sounds wrong.
